Don't eat until I get back.

[ He's going on his run regardless, but he's getting Weiss some fresh pancakes. He can't change who he is and he has no intention of doing it, but at least that much he can plan on.

He won't tell her that, so she can just be surprised when he brings a bunch back and claims they screwed up the first order and double made them. ]

[schmisse]

Right.

[ It's only proper to eat at the same time! Weiss doesn't think she'll run out of things to do while he's on the way back. Not a big deal.

He'll probably find his apartment cleaner later. ]

[ You aren't his maid Weiss omg?? That's embarrassing. But Midoriam is a little more focused on other things.

When he takes his run, he takes a little more time than normal with it. He goes a little farther, both to go to the pancake place that he likes better and because he needs time to clear his head and figure a few emotions out.

In the end, the conclusion he comes to is that Weiss is Weiss. She hasn't hurt anyone-- she was in trouble because she was protecting someone, and she continues to protect and serve others here as a moon knight. She wasn't arrested for corruption or being harmful, she was made a fugitive because of it.

Even if there was danger, he finds that he doesn't think that he could hold that against her. And so when he orders her pancakes, he orders an extra heaping side of fruit topping so she can put as much as she wants on.

When he returns, it's with two takeout bags filled with too many pancakes, so he uses his voice to announce his return so Weiss can get the door. ]

Weiss, open the door!

[schmisse]

[ You don't have to be a maid to want to clean up?!?! Besides, what's wrong with cleaning...

Merlin is first at the door, barking at Midorima from the other side, until Weiss opens it. Once Midorima can come in, she takes a few steps to the side so she's not blocking his way. ]

Do you want me to help you? [ She'll carry a bag if he wants her to, but she won't outright get it from him this time. ]

[ It's someone else's house! Now Midorima is worried she thinks his home isn't clean enough... not that he'd ever say it anyway.

He carefully steps around Merlin as Merlin runs around his feet and holds out one of the bags to Weiss. The smaller one. Some of these are for his lucky item, after all, so his has a meal plus just.. some pancakes to carry around. ]

Take these and eat them. They made a mistake on the order the first time and gave me both.

[ No, Midorima, you just bought Weiss pancakes.. Which is probably obvious by the way hers has all the toppings in the bag and his don't. ]

[schmisse]

[ It'd be a waste not to eat food... Weiss takes the bag without saying much about it, but holds it up a little higher so it's to her eye level. ]

This is a lot.

[ Midorima, it's not Cordis now. How can she eat this much? ]

My lucky item today is pancakes. Not all of these are for eating.

[ Some are for luck. ]

[schmisse]

[ That... actually gets her to laugh a little as she follows him into the dining room. ]

I should have guessed. [ Now she knows better! ] What kind of pancakes are they?

[ If Midorima doesn't get to it first, she'll prepare plates and the utensils for them both. ]

Buttermilk. There should be a bowl with toppings in it in that bag.

[ It's mostly just fruits and there's a bowl with whipped cream too, and little butter cups so she can do whatever she wants. They're all on the side so she can do whatever. ]

[schmisse]

[ Once she's settled down, she opens up the bag he gave her. This is still a lot even for her, but she'll serve herself two pancakes for now. And the butter and cream, too... oh, and fruits. That's a lot of fruits.

She looks over at Midorima's side. How come he doesn't have as much? And if the pancake place really made a mistake, then why do they have the same order?

Ah. There's a curious look on her face when she looks at the pancakes on her plate now, then she looks back at him. Should she say something about it? Maybe not... he might get mad. ]

Thank you for breakfast.

[ Because he's soft on her, moreso than he is with anyone else really. She gets spoiled, as long as she doesn't say anything about it. In fact, the less she points it out hte more often he'll be willing to do it.

He does put a big of fruit on his own, though nowhere near as much as he's provided her, and a bit of syrup. He likes things that are mildly sweet, not sugary nutso. ]

It would be a waste if you weren't eating at least some of this.

I've actually learned how to make non-goopy pancakes now. [ Her mood still isn't up there, but she does feel a little better. Enough that she's smiling a little and feeling more confident. ] Let me make you some some time.

[ Remember that time she posted on Prismagram? Those pancakes with berries that looked so good? Yeah. They only looked good on the outside. ]

How do you make goopy pancakes?

[ That's very concerning. He thought you could only burn them since it was pretty obvious when they were cooked. (He's only burned them.) ]

I'll expect it.

Cooking isn't for everyone.

[ She's only perfected spaghetti, ok... She's still learning.

For now, she'll enjoy breakfast that neither of them made. That means it's better! And the fruits are also sweet, and she puts syrup on both the pancakes and fruits before putting the fruits on the pancakes. ]

One side was cooked, I guess. I thought the bubbles were enough so I flipped it.

[ Midorima can do rice, and tea, and hard-boiled eggs at this point.

He has in fact attempted to make hard-boiled eggs in tea, which went okay, and tried to make rice in tea, which was not good. But that's the extent of his cooking skills. He understands that cooking isn't for everyone, so he makes no effort to argue. ]

Bubbles?

[ HE's never successfully made pancakes. Certainly nothing as good as what they're consumin gnow. ]

[schmisse]

There are little bubbles when you cook the batter. When there's a lot, you're supposed to flip it.

[ "A lot" is subjective, though... ]

I thought there were bubbles the whole time.

[ He's thinking of what his mother usually makes, souffle pancakes, which you whip the egg whites from the very beginning for.

He would somehow still screw it up hard though. ]

[ Midorima, now you're making her doubt herself. ]

No, I don't think so.

Either way, I'll know once I make pancakes again.

[ Why would you buy into anything Midorima says about cooking, Weiss, you've experienced his skill level. ]

You can this weekend. We'll be gone a couple days.

[ So she now has a hint!! Somewhere they can cook. Either way, Midorima's digging in for now. He's hungry. ANd probably needs a shower, sorry Weiss he's still run-sweaty???? But he's hungry. ]

[ She doesn't mind if he's sweaty?? Look, when you train with a bunch of other people and live with them, you kind of have to get used to all kinds of habits. That includes showering after eating even though you just finished a lengthy workout. ]

Where are we going, anyway?

[ She never really asked. Not because she thought it would be a surprise— well, okay, she thought it would be. But now!! It is her birthday, and they're leaving in a couple of hours. She wants to know. ]

It's a surprise. I intend on blindfolding you before arrival.

[ It's!! Romantic!! He's doing his best.

Midorima picks up Merlin, who is underneath the table, and sets him in his lap. Merlin doesn't whine for food or anything, but he is attentively staring at it while Midorima eats. ]

... I've certainly never been surprised like this before.

[ Maybe she'll find it romantic later on. For now, she's a little nervous. Maybe a little excited. It's hard to tell! Her bites are small as she eats though, more into the fruits than the pancakes. ]

Are there going to be a lot of people there or something?

[accurately]

No. It will just be the two of us.

[ Once Midorima eats about a pancake and a half, he's done. He doesn't eat much when it's not Cordis. ]

[ If she were in a better mood and if she were sure Midorima wouldn't get mad at her, she would've said something about how this sounds like a plot to a murder novel.

Midorima would really yell at her if she said that... ]

I can clean up if you're done. [ He needs to shower, anyway. . . so!! Leave this to her. ]

[ yeah definitely, he'snot a murderer ;o; ]

You can. I'll go clean myself.

[ He really wants to shower, but he wanted to eat the food while it was hot too.. ]

Leave these pancakes out, I'm taking them with us.

[ The ones they weren't eating are his lucky pancakes ok!! They specifically don't have anything on them so they say dry and bready. ]
