We won't be back soon, we'll be gone all weekend. Annoy Kise about it.

[ He says it just in earshot of Weiss to Merlin before closing the door. He knows it's going to annoy her. He'll be gone and back in a couple minutes. There is yelling before he leaves, as per tradition when it comes to Kise. But he makes it quick and looks a little ruffled when he comes back to the car. He gets in and sighs. ]

Let's go.

[ He says that to the driver to let him know he's ready, buckling up as he does. ]

[schmisse]

... You're so prickly.

[ And she thinks it's amusing! With Merlin gone, she can stick next to Midorima in the taxi even though there's a whole lot of space in the backseat. ]

Kise's loud, it's hard not to be.

[ He doesn't argue with Weiss about her getting closer. It's pretty nice though, and even if he's prickly he's appreciative. ]

Make sure your seatbelt's on properly.

[ If she's switching spots to be next to him, safety first!! ]

[schmisse]

I don't— [ She checks one side, then another. The only ones that have seatbelts are the ones closest to the window. ] I don't have one.

[ ... until she reaches for Midorima's arm to wrap it around her waist from the back, anyway. ]

[ Weiss, if this car crashes, his arm is not going to protect you. He pulls his arm out and starts pushing her across the seat back to the seatbelt. He'll hold her hand if she cooperates. ]

Seatbelt on.

[schmisse]

[ This is lame... :( Midorima, you can't imply that you want her around and then do this? ]

I have my Aura...

And if you go flying in a car crash and your aura hits my face, I'm going to end up with a broken nose.

[ No breaking rules for snuggles. But he at least seems to have some recognition that he's.. you know.. kind of being a jerk. ]

There will be plenty of time for that at our destination.

My Aura— it's not gonna do that. [ T_T But... if it's for his safety, then fine. She'll slink back to the other side of the car and pout about it. ]

You can pick the car game if you want.

[ it's her reward for good behavior ]

Car game?

[ A groan... she doesn't want to play games right now. ]

Maybe quiet time is better.

[accurately]

Fine.

[ Midorima's not against quiet time. He's used to hanging out with people who need constant entertainment though, and doesn't mind competition. But if Weiss wants quiet time, she'll get quiet time. ]

[schmisse]

[ There's some things to think about about Remnant, that's all. It's nothing against Midorima. She's just a little tired, so she'd prefer to just think and have some time to herself before they end up having all the fun wherever they're going!!

She rests her head against the window for the ride, eyes closed for most of it, only opening it every so often if and when the car stops or something. ]

[ Midorima's entirely fine with it. He's the type who will just.. enjoy the peace and quiet. He's just letting his mind wander for the duration of the ride, staying quiet.

The car ride is lengthy, since they're going far enough out of town that the taxi is getting an extra large tip. In fact, they're let out near a small stream with a mossy stone path next to it. They'll have to walk a bit to get to the cabin in the distance, since the road doesn't go all the way up to it. The driver helps them get their things out of the trunk, then Midorima sets out to carry them. Though, he does look a little sleepy as he accepts them (From the long ride). ]

It's up this path.

[ Huh! Weiss zoned out in the car so she's not quite sure what paths they took to get here, but it's different from the city view. It's... actually nice. And she can already feel the difference— the air is different, fresher, even! ]

How did you find this place?

[accurately]

I asked around.

[ He wanted to know about a cabin, so he asked people about the cabin!! Starting with a man he's harassed about a sleigh before, but you know, whatever. He did his research to find what he wanted. ]

We seem to have trouble finding time to ourselves, so I made sure it would be possible for your birthday.

[schmisse]

No wonder you didn't want Merlin to come with us, then.

[ She gets it, she thinks? Either way, she starts walking up the path. She's the one who isn't carrying much except for her own bag of personal stuff, so she's a lot faster in moving even though Midorima has longer limbs. ]

The place looks safe... but I'll make sure nothing bad happens, just in case.

[ Look! She's a little paranoid, okay!! ]

Merlin is an attention-seeking troglodyte and it's my turn for your undivided attention.

[ Insulting the dog was entirely unnecessary, but literally face-bursting through his door made it very clear to Midorima that he is Correct and the dog is a tiny cockblock. ]

I know you will.

[ He has faith in her to protect them! He gets out the key, which he fetched from the renter the day before yesterday, and unlocks the door so she can go in ahead of him. It's quaint inside, but everything seems warm. There's a fireplace in the main room and a kitchen too, and one large king-sized bed. There's a picnic table out back in case they want to eat outside, too, and a cute trickling stream that goes alongside the cabin. ]

You just insulted your dog!

[ And yes, she is taking some offense to this!! Don't be mean to Merlin, Midorin. :(

Once she's inside, she looks around, already switching the AC on to make sure it's cool enough inside, but not too cold! Other settings like the lighting are also adjusted so it's up to her standard, all the while humming a tune. She pops in where Midorima is to ask a question, though— ]

Do you want me to have the curtains open, or do you want it a little dim in here?

He can't hear me.

[ He lets her do whatever she wants with the settings. He'll probably open the windows instead of the AC later, since they're in nature, he'd rather enjoy the fresh air. But for now Weiss can have her way. ]

Open the curtains. We're in a cabin, it'd be pointless not to enjoy the view.

[schmisse]

Alright.

[ Now there's a mix of nature! Sunlight, but no fresh air. They can have fresh air later. It just seems a little too warm out to let air come in. It'll be hot. ]

Anything planned for the afternoon?

[accurately]

It's Valentine's Day, so we can try to make chocolate together once you're settled. I brought the ingredients for a recipe.

[ If she helps surely he can't horribly ruin it and then they both get Valentine's chocolate. ]

Once they're made and cooling, we can have lunch. Then we have time to relax after that. In the evening, we can go on a nature walk and take a dip in the stream.

[ It will be cooler then. He pushes up his glasses. It's not the most exciting plan, but he did make one.. ]

I've only ever gone swimming in a pool.

[ The last part sounds exciting, especially. But making chocolates sounds fun, too. ]

Okay. Do you want to start now?

[ She takes off her shrug so she's comfortable in just her dress while walking around the cottage. ]

Just be prepared for wildlife. They aren't afraid of people in the wild.

[ Midorima will catch a frog for her. ]

You don't want to stretch your legs first?

[ They've been trapped in the car, it might be nice to get settled properly first and put their stuff away. Midorima is the type of person who unpacks on trips, ok.. ]

I'm fine.

[ She's fit! And she did some stretches early this morning. It's not like she went to sleep in the car earlier. ]

Just tell me what you need to prepare.

[ Midorima takes out his device, on which he has instructions saved. ]

A metal bowl, a pot of water, a candy thermometer, molds, and chocolate. I brought the last three, can you check the cabinets for the first two?

[ He's heading for his bags to get the parts that he thought probably wouldn't be here out. ]
