[First, Eichi opens his mouth to argue... But then he closes it again, unable to selfishly request that they don't go when Midorima includes himself like that. Even if it's definitely over the top to go to a hospital for his scratch there, he'd rather put his mind at peace... And he feels too guilty about it to refuse him.
So that means going to his least favorite place, too.]
This sap seems to be something terrible as well, so be careful. [A pause, as he breathes, flushed face resting against Midorima without much choice.]
[ In his defense, he's never been scratched with a knife before. He got scratched by a cat once and now he hates all cats. He's so particular about his nails he will stop in the middle of a conversation to fix them if he thinks they're off. His hand requires extreme care. He needs to go to the hospital emotionally if not physically. ]
Can you walk?
[ Midorima can, but if he has to carry Eichi he's probably going to hurt his hand to do so. At least on pick up. For now he's trying not to address the issue at hand (literally) and just focus on getting them there. That's easier than panicking, though his eyes keep glancing back to his hand subsconsciously, so it's not unnoticeable that he can't stop worrying about it. ]
[It's so apparent. Eichi doesn't want to put that hand at even more risk just because he's paralyzed, and so even if he's fairly certain what the answer is—]
Let me try.
[He shifts, or tries to, his weight leaning one way but his arms can't move much at all, and his legs won't, either. He looks so troubled, trying this, but he keeps struggling against it, gasping out when he can't will a limb to do what he wants it to. Damn it...!!]
Midorima-kun... I think you should head over on your own. I've dealt with these plants before, so time will wear it off, if not chroma, but your hand...
[ Period, end of sentence. He hurt his hand for him, he's not leaving him only a wall away from the thing that did it. He thinks for a moment, then stands up. ]
Not for long anyway. I'll be back in five minutes, possibly less.
[ Eichi is going to owe him a lot of chroma for this. Before the blonde can argue, Midorima's off running, and will be back in about 4 minutes coming up the elevator with what appears to be a red wagon. ]
[ Hmm.. He takes off the cloak he's wearing, pulling it over his head. His shirt pulls up for a brief moment of unnecessary abs exposure, then falls back down once the cloak is off. Beneath it, he just has an tank undershirt and pants, since he didn't want to overheat in the Halloween costume. ]
Here.
[ He throws it onto Eichi's head. While he's finding his way through, Midorima kneels down next to him so he can lean on his right shoulder to get up. At least he won't have to crawl. ]
[The cloak is put on, so now he looks like a cloaked baby in a wagon, but more anonymous! It's all he needed, and the chroma was enough to get him in here and now he just hopes Midorima can get his fingers looked at without any issues.
He's silent for a little longer, probably all the way until they're down the elevator and on the streets.]
Thank you. For coming to help, as well as going through all of this effort. I can't stress this enough.
[ He's not saying you're welcome or anything.. that would acknowledge that he went through all of this effort for Eichi. Which he did but still.. it's much easier to just tell him to buy him dinner at some point. ]
Once we're both better.
[ Not healthy. He knows Eichi's never going to be healthy, but once they're both improved is fine. He pulls Eichi slowly so that he doesn't risk falling out, even if Midorima knows he could go faster. ]
[He laughs so softly at that that it's near silent. He's covered by the cloak, so his voice is the smallest bit muffled, but he still speaks clearly over the sound of the wagon for Midorima.]
I'll arrange for whatever you'd like. Fine dining, a cozy family owned place, fast food, to-go... Please look forward to it.
[ Though probably the second option. Midorima likes smaller places, like ramen shops and okonomiyaki restaurants and cafes, as long as they're cultural. He'll eat fast food and to-go and fine dining, but he tends to like more traditional experiences. ]
[Normally he likes to ramble much more than this, but he sounds groggy, and he still can't move. It's to the point where there aren't even any shifts or fidgets from him. He's still, and his eyes have drifted closed.]
I'm fine, but it's like every bit of Chroma has been drained away. That pollen was irritated and burned, as well.
[He breathes out a sigh, words slow but he still tries to get them out.]
And you? You must be quite troubled. [His HAND...]
[ Midorima can feel it too, though perhapsĀ not to such an extent. He wasn't in there half as long as Eichi, and he'd been warned well-enough to cover his face as soon as he could. He's still tired though, he can't imagine how much Eichi must just want to go to sleep right now. ]
I'm trying not to think about it until the doctor sees it.
[ Which is perhaps why Midorima is being more talkative than usual despite the tire, and despite that he's usually comfortable to let the conversationĀ fall to silence or let someone else do the majority of the talking unless he has something he needs to speak about. Right now, he's trying to keep small talk up because he doesn't want to think about his hand. There's nothing that can be done at this point except go to see the doctor. ]
Do you know where the closest ER is?
[ Midorima knows where one is, but there's a good chance Eichi knows if there's a closer one. ]
Mm. Along this street, turn left at the next intersection and you should be able to see it.
[ He doesnāt even have to open his eyes to give those directions. Heās staying awake, but mostly out of his thoughts running around in his mind. How heād thought that plant was someone he lost long ago, how that someone vanished while he was hospitalized in that very hospital, how heād promised Eichi heād be with him forever, no matter the universe, that heād dedicate himself to him if he wanted...
His fingers twitch a little, the closest thing he can manage to movement right now.
Midorima cares enough to risk his everything like that. He canāt get it out of his head. Heās not sure itās right... Heās not sure Midorima should be throwing things like that when Eichi doesnāt even know how long heāll live, or how long theyāll be able to know each other. Heās glad his eyes are closed. ]
You wonāt have to say a word about me for them to check me in, so simply worry about your own situation once weāre inside.
[ ..Plus they should probably know about the pollen and vines. Like it's not just his normal health issues, so Midorima will inform them about both of their issues while they take Eichi away. Midorima doubts he'll need to be bed-ridden at all himself, so he expects he'll be able to come to Eichi's room soon. Maybe that's too optimistic. ]
You should've had your lucky item with you.
[ Midorima's is a wood object, so his staff works nicely. But Eichi doesn't have his. ]
[ He actually checked before they even met up today. Like, he knew realistically, but hearing it, facing it in this situation, he canāt help but laugh softly. ]
Youāre the only one who would know that. [ Warmly, with more fondness than usual. ]
We can buy one on the way back, if you think itās still worth it.
That's why I'm more prepared than others, you fool.
[ Because he knows that!! Of course, at least for Midorima, the only one truly affected by luck is him and the people who interact with him regularly (though usually only because they're affected by his ridiculousness). ]
I may need extra chroma if we do that.
[ Wagons aren't cheap.. Though they're certainly cheaper than paramedics. But Midorima isn't exactly rolling in chroma. Either way, it's getting them there. Midorima can see the hospital down the street by now. ]
[ Heās got a bank or something probably, idk how this works. Butā ]
Though, we can always generate more for ourselves on top of it. Iād rather not be alone... though it feels selfish to say that aloud. So many residents of the apartments are missing right now.
I suppose thatās why I foolishly extended my hand, even to someone who has been gone for a long time.
[ Sorry, Midorima, he cant hear that since he falls asleep so quickly. Not that heād listen even if he did catch it. Thereās no way heād let someone pass on before him...!!! ]
[ It's a moment later that he realizes that Eichi has actually fallen asleep since he doesn't get a response. He stops and at least goes to check his pulse and make sure he's still breathing. Since he is, he continues on with the wagon and lets him rest.
When Eichi wakes up, Midorima will be waiting by his bedside, asleep in a chair in the hospital. His left hand is stitched-- deep enough to have needed it, but not enough to have caused permanent damage. They said it'll take about a week unless he does lots of moonlacing, so he's expecting about a week until he can play basketball or piano again. But for now, he's asleep in the chair. ]
[Eichi's situation isn't too bad, either. A severe lack of chroma, some poisoning from the plant that the doctors recognize as the same thing from months ago that can be solved with chroma. However, the lack of chroma tends to put a strain on Eichi's body, including his heart and his lungs, so he needs a little more help than most. He can leave once he feels he can walk out.
That's what's told to Midorima, and what Eichi assumed would be the case from experience.
He wakes up slowly, then remembers the situation and bolts up, looking around the room— to find Midorima in the chair. Thankfully. He slips out of his bed, even if he's in a hospital gown, and reaches gently to try and take a look at Midorima's hand while he's sleeping.]
