[ He’s got a bank or something probably, idk how this works. But— ]
Though, we can always generate more for ourselves on top of it. I’d rather not be alone... though it feels selfish to say that aloud. So many residents of the apartments are missing right now.
I suppose that’s why I foolishly extended my hand, even to someone who has been gone for a long time.
[ Sorry, Midorima, he cant hear that since he falls asleep so quickly. Not that he’d listen even if he did catch it. There’s no way he’d let someone pass on before him...!!! ]
[ It's a moment later that he realizes that Eichi has actually fallen asleep since he doesn't get a response. He stops and at least goes to check his pulse and make sure he's still breathing. Since he is, he continues on with the wagon and lets him rest.
When Eichi wakes up, Midorima will be waiting by his bedside, asleep in a chair in the hospital. His left hand is stitched-- deep enough to have needed it, but not enough to have caused permanent damage. They said it'll take about a week unless he does lots of moonlacing, so he's expecting about a week until he can play basketball or piano again. But for now, he's asleep in the chair. ]
[Eichi's situation isn't too bad, either. A severe lack of chroma, some poisoning from the plant that the doctors recognize as the same thing from months ago that can be solved with chroma. However, the lack of chroma tends to put a strain on Eichi's body, including his heart and his lungs, so he needs a little more help than most. He can leave once he feels he can walk out.
That's what's told to Midorima, and what Eichi assumed would be the case from experience.
He wakes up slowly, then remembers the situation and bolts up, looking around the room— to find Midorima in the chair. Thankfully. He slips out of his bed, even if he's in a hospital gown, and reaches gently to try and take a look at Midorima's hand while he's sleeping.]
[ There are two bottles of water on a small end table between the hospital bed and Midorima's chair, one half-drunk by him, but otherwise it looks relatively normal.
His hand is very sore, so it being touched results in him tensing and waking quickly. He realizes it's Eichi and relaxes a little. ]
How can you say that? These are stitches, aren't they? That isn't "fine"!
[It's very rare that Eichi raises his voice like that, but he's so troubled. Midorima had asked him to contact him when he was in danger, or if anything like that happened, but... it's because he's weak, isn't it? Because he's fragile. Because he couldn't even handle one of those things on his own, despite all that he'd practiced with in magic.
Since it was all gone. Just like Asra. Back to square one, with nothing but minor electric magic until the Iris moon comes around.
He looks so serious, staring down at the hand that he's holding so delicately. And then he's breathing out slowly, moving his hand away from Midorima's, turning around to face the bed again as he takes a few steps that way.]
They said I should be fine in about a week as long as I don't neglect moonlacing and normal health maintenance. It's not fine, but what will saying it isn't accomplish?
[ He gives Eichi a hard stare as Eichi seems to melt and panic the way that he felt like he was every second after Eichi fell asleep in the wagon. It was one thing to get to talk to him on the way, but after that, after waiting in the emergency room for his turn because the doctors didn't see it as as big of an emergency as he did because they didn't recognize that his life depended on his hand the way that he did...
Midorima was rather alone while that happened, and Eichi yelling is rather refreshing because it's the way he wanted to panic. ]
I chose what I valued. A scratch [ gash, is more like it ] was better than the alternative. [ Eichi taking a knife to the face could've been far more tragic. ]
[He's aware of that, too. That he'd passed out and left him like that. That no one else would take something like that seriously against Eichi's actual health issues. That nurses might have laughed, that he wasn't able to do anything. And here, waking up, still dizzy... It's so frustrating.
He takes the last couple of steps and turns to sit on the edge of the bed, looking to Midorima. His eyes are questioning, but he doesn't ask what he's wondering right now. Haven't I troubled you enough already?
Instead, he sighs.]
In other words, we should moonlace more than usual, shouldn't we?
[ Wow don't sigh before saying something like that!??? He's offended now, and tensing up and getting all prickly. He's also very tired since he definitely fell asleep in that chair more than intentionally went to sleep, since his glasses are still on his face and his hair is a little bit messy. ]
[...At the very least, Midorima being prickly somehow makes it easier for Eichi to relax. He's still got a ton on his mind, but at least he can be distracted by this. It's comfortable, somehow.]
Aren't you the one who treats it so formally, though?
[He says it teasingly and folds one leg over the other.]
It's only that I'm interested in that to begin with, you know, but now you'll start assuming that it's to help with your hand. I could have presented you a flower while we were looking at vases and said something charming, but this cheapens it, doesn't it?
[ He stands up finally, using a hand to push Eichi back onto the bed, then rest his hands next to his head on the bed sheets. He just stares at him for a moment, intensely.. for a few seconds until his face falls because his hand hurts so he can't even try to pretend he's interested right now.
He sighs and backs away, then moves to sit down again, holding his left hand with his right. ]
He's sure he short circuits for a moment there, when he's suddenly put into a position like a harem manga protag. Ah, his heart... It's still racing, even when Midorima pulls back and moves away. That's not fair? How can he just do that and back off? That's not fair?]
Ah. Midorima-kun can't even stretch his "trying to be cool" act much longer than that right now, then?
[He sits up, busying himself with fixing his hair and standing up and turning around and definitely not being affected by whatever he just did at all.]
In that case, we should leave. Staying here won't benefit either of us, anyway. [He's not waiting to be okayed to check out, he's about to just walk out, come on. It's just skipping a step.]
[Even if he's not the most stable right now, he's not going to feel good about himself if he needs to be carried or tugged along. So. He'll make it work. He's not paralyzed anymore, so he can do it.]
[Come on... He's leaving this room and already ripping the bracelet off his wrist, look at this rebel. You can tell he breaks out of hospitals all the time. Honestly, the nurses probably are used to it enough that they won't even blink at him leaving without checking out...]
I intend to make sure that that plant hasn't taken over my apartment complex. Safely, of course... Are you coming back there with me?
You're coming home with me. Call an exterminator, the door is still unlocked. You're not going back to the scene that just put us both in the hospital.
[ There are a million people here who regularly fight monsters and stuff all the time, the two of them should not be handling it. ]
This is hardly the first time this world has experienced a pest invasion. If the natives don't have one, there's certainly some moonblessed from a harsher world you can ask.
[ Midorima heads to the nurse's station to let them know they're leaving, though he simply gives them their names and states that they're checking out. It's only polite to at least notify them, even if he's not sticking around to do Eichi's paperwork. They can mail it to him. He's already done his. ]
You purchased magic?
[ It's not like he knows what he's looking for, as far as he knows Eichi got electrocuted by the vine plant. ]
[He ends up waiting for Midorima without any complaints, though he's still curling his fingers and staring at his hands once he comes back. They begin to walk again, and Eichi glances over.]
Rather, the magic that we already receive with each moon... I bought a bracelet that supposedly would make it permanent after I put it on once. It worked. Iris is associated with electricity magic, it seems, though I can't do much like this.

[ Yeah, presumably they can deposit it somewhere or they'd all be screwed all the time... ]
All the more reason to be cautious.
[ And this is why he isn't going to moonlace to bring Tsumugi back. sorry mugi ]

[ his voice is quieter ]
I don’t want to lose anyone precious ever again, you know. I would reach without thinking if a spirit took your voice, as well.
[ ... and then he drifts to sleep, because he is really at his chroma limit here ]

[ It's finding the right balance that's tricky. Midorima sure hasn't figured it out yet, but this isn't about him. ]
Don't do that. If I were a spirit I'd move on as quickly as possible.
