[It briefly reminds Kise of the flea market. He doesn't say that though. He only looks around, pushes the hair out of his face and cranks up the smile to 100. Someone plans to charm his way into very, VERY low prices.]
[ It's about the same, with the added benefit of being able to trade items as well as money. The first booth they go by seems to be mostly old furniture, which Midorima isn't really looking for, so he glances at Kise to see if he needs anything and moves on to the next one without perusing beyond a glance. He'll stop if Kise wants to look, though. ]
[No, Kise's not interested in furniture at all, so unless Midorima wanted it he wasn't going to stop by it. Few booths down, though, he spots all kinds of hanging ornaments, like those you can use for Christmas celebrations. He has no doubts Midorima will carry one around even if it is not the holiday.
He gives Midorima a nudge to stay back a little whilst he skips off to the booth, beaming like a sunshine model he is and making the woman behind the counter almost faint ("You are from that wedding commercial!"). It takes about five minutes of back and forth- he took a selfie with the woman- and he comes back to Midorima with all kinds of decorations for house. Literally. Half of the bag, a golden(looking) star being the biggest item.]
[ Midorima's haggling is much less.. pleasant. It involves arguing and demanding and sudden claims that his sister is studying abroad and he wants to get her a tearful goodbye present.
What Kise did took so much less time? Should he be dragging Kise along regularly? ]
[Kise doesn't boast that he's popular... but he's popular. Especially after that wedding commercial that he did, that he practiced the ballroom dances for. He nudges Midorima to keep walking, smiling as he waves to the woman.]
Charm, I suppose? I mentioned I just moved in the new apartment [which is half-lie, he did move, but it's been a while,] so I'm kind of down on chroma. And she was happy to get the prices down for me. Oh! She added in a freebie, [he points at actual Christmas tree ornament.]
I dunno if it will work on guys though. [But he can probably charm any lady- IF he tries.]
[ Yeah, that's something Midorima could never do. And is mildly annoyed about but it's hard to tell since he always looks mildly annoyed about something. ]
[ Though he supposes very few people are really.. strictly any specific sexuality here. Midorima's pretty sure he lost any inclination to consider it from how much the moons messed with his life, he realized he was okay with either after he was already into people... but either way, he just thinks that's an odd thing to think out if it just came down to being popular and nice.
Though he supposes if Midorima is Kise's taste in men, that would explain why he's unable to flirt normally with them. ]
Guys respond differently to popular people. If you try to charm them and brag about it, they get annoyed, which usually results in an argument or worse.
[He still remembers back home bragging about his show up in the magazine and getting smacked in the back of the head with basketball by Aomine. He may look like an airhead but he learns.
As for the tastes, Kise is complicated. Enough so that he can't explain it. Tho he would get into an argument if anyone ever brought up the question of "why" he likes Midorima.]
So unless they bring it up first, I don't mention it. [Kise taps his chin,] I'll figure something out... [A promise from the social butterfly.]
[ ..Though Midorima is probably a different story, but his experience is people get annoyed and argue with him and he's definitely not trying to charm anyone. ]
[ He's going to ignore the fact that he just doesn't like this. Don't charm people in front of him, he'll get jealous grumpy. Grumpy enough that he only barely glanced at the ornaments Kise got. But oh well.. he'll look later.
Midorima squeezes the donut toy in his pocket to increase his luck (or maybe just soothe himself) and heads into the next booth. There's a wide variety of knick-knacks, so he's going through and finding the oddest things he can. ]
[He will do his best maybe it will net him an angry, jealous kiss.
Kise bounces off to the next stall as well, just looking around. There's not much to see, mostly random, colorful pillows, scarves, a bunch of clothes (they don't need that). He stops at the stall that sells dreamcatchers though. A conversation ensues ("Oooh! Your stand is so colorful! You work here all the time? It's so cool!" 'insert thanking, explaining, showing off the trinkets etc. etc.' "You think these work? Cool! Oh, what about those~?"), before he ends up with several dreamcatchers and cute paper lanterns. He's actually taking one of the dreamcatchers for himself so he didn't mind paying for it. Lanterns were sold in "buy two, get one free" deal so of course he got it.]
[ Midorima's exploration of the stall he's at is much more quiet. He ends up negotiating through less friendly means.
In fact, while Kise is in sight, he flat-out says that Kise is terminal and he wants to get him something to make him truly smile, as all of his current smiles are just him attempting to hold onto the sunlight. The three-foot tall wombat statue in question is his favorite animal, and it will surely keep him company as he needs to spend more and more days in the hospital as his body shuts down.
When Kise comes back over, the lady he was chatting with cries and pats him on the shoulder and calls him brave, and Midorima walks away with the wombat. ]
[So Midorima's strategy is pure lying. No wonder he's gotten into trouble a lot. And he's close to getting into trouble now too because Kise gives the lady a confused look. Brave?]
Ahh...ha, thanks? Oi, Midorimacchi, wait. [He gives a little bow to the woman, out of respect and rushes after him, sneaking glances behind him.]
...that's a big, uh, sculpture? Why was that woman crying though? [He's kind of worried.]
[ He at least saves it for when he really wants and can't get something. There's no way he can afford that wombat statue on his own right now. If Kise comes with him again, they'll have to share about his miraculous recovery. ]
I told her you were terminally ill.
[ Flat-out. Though quietly at least, so that he's still quiet enough that they don't get busted. ]

Are you flirting for free items?

Is he jealous??]What? No. [Is he flirting? He doesn't count that as flirting.] I'm just very nice. And when you're popular, you can't be anything but nice!
[That's another smile for girl that takes a picture of him.]
If I can get you an item by just taking a fan picture with someone, I see no problem!
[At least he doesn't see it.]

We'll figure out something, don't worry! Now- to snoop for more items!

[What the hell is Midorima talking about!?]
Oi! Was that really necessary!? I would've given you chroma! Hell, we could've made some right here!
[He gets a look for the last one and the keeps his voice down-]
You can't just spread lies like that! I am a famous model even if it doesn't seem like it! Imagine if the press heard that!
[Good lord, that would've been... no. Kise doesn't want to think about it.]
