[ He hates. He'll eat a lot of things though, even if he actually prefers sweeter foods sometimes.

Ew. [She says it in a tone like she's not sure why that's something that'd have to be brought up anyhow. Why would she put natto in anything?? Gross!!

She's not entirely fond of being given free reign though, there's too many choices. But whatever, she'll figure out...something...

Her apartment is neat and clean, for the most part, though there's some books and scripts left lying around the living room. But it's furnished! Nicely, in fact, and not like a couple of hobo basketball players are living there... Miu gestures to the couch.]

Go ahead and make yourself at home. The board's in my room. [She smiles briefly at him before disappearing into the back for her room. What emerges seconds later is not Miu, however, but a rather large maine coon-looking cat.

Godspeed, midorima, she might've forgotten to mention her cat to you.]

[ What the hell is that thing. It's like a cat but worse? ]

[ He's eying it warily and is going to go stand in the farthest part of the apartment near the kitchen so he can be prepared to grab something food-wise to throw for the cat to go after if it decides to bother him. He doesn't look super freaked out or anything, just. He doesn't really like cats much and that one is kind of big and he's just going to let it pass and try to be annoyed at its existence from a distance. ]

[Unfortunately (??) for Midorima, his attempting to put distance just make it more curious. It walks over, sniffing at him and pressing briefly up against his legs before apparently deeming Midorima 'good enough' and...tries to just lay on his feet?? ??? Sure.

Thankfully Miu returns with the board a few seconds later and raises her eyebrows in amusement.]

[ He knows better than to move quickly and startle a cat, so he just glares it down as it approaches him, then steps back when it tries to lay on his feet. Why is this?? He looks up at Miu and goes to stand next to her instead, still giving the cat a look. ]

I don't like cats.

She seems to like you, though. [Cat meows and follows after him, making Miu snicker. She leans down and balances the shogi board to scratch behind the cat's ears and, satisfied, Cat wanders off again to find a sunbeam to laze in.]

She's pretty harmless, and she likes pretty much everyone. [Pause.] Except Akashi-kun, for some reason.

[Anyway. She straightens and looks to him] Living room or kitchen? [Where do you wanna set up shop, Midorin. The cat'll be around no matter what, no escaping that]

Akashi has an aura similar to a lion. Your cat may be territorial.

[ He doesn't mind lions, they're different from normal cats. ]

[ It's more open, the cat has more places to leave him alone in. ]

[She's totally imagining Akashi with a lion's mane now and trying not to laugh. At least she has ideas for Halloween now.

She moves to set the board up in the living room, humming thoughtfully] I wonder what that makes you though...

[ He considers for a moment, sitting across from her while she sets it up. ]

[She looks baffled and confused a moment]

There's a rather troublesome Hawk on my team who refuses to leave me to my own devices. He always returns and serves me faithfully, if refusing to stop screeching in my ear.

[ SO. A BIRD TRAINER. OBVIOUSLY. ]

'Serves me faithfully,' huh? [She's laughing now, covering her mouth with her hand]

Are you talking about a friend or a manservant?

[This is terrible and yet hilarious and she really hopes she meets who this is one day so she can tell them allll about it]

[ He finally helps her finish set up the board, if only because she's going to slow or focusing on the wrong things. ]

[She leans back in her seat, crossing one leg over the other as she lounges.]

Alright. Ready to play? [Again, she only knows the basics, so. this'll be an easy win for Midorima...]

We'll decide how many games a day we need to set as a goal once we complete this first one.

[ He needs to gauge her level first before they set goals. If they aren't reasonable goals, they aren't going to achieve them and be able to set new ones. A goal is worthless if you don't achieve it, and you won't if you think you can't. ]

[She figures he means once he figures out just how much she sucks, but despite her limited experience and the fact she's got mostly book-learning to go off of, she's determined to Do Her Best.

She takes five pawns into her hand to toss on the board, humming when the unprompted pawns seem to be the majority.] So I go first... [She doesn't sound too enthused by that, but whatever. She'll set the pieces back up, considers for a moment, then makes her opening move.

Do you ever play normal games, Midorima-san? Video games or things like that?

Shogi is a normal game.

[ Midorima doesn't look like he's doing anything really substantial, but he is taking his time making moves and mostly paying attention to what she does to decide what she thinks she's doing, then counter and end that. No advice or anything this first time, it's just an anticipation exam. ]

I've a talent for crane games, but there are many games I've played to ensure I've done everything within my power to succeed. A number of lucky items are special editions, out of print, or difficult to obtain. I have to be open to any means to get the ones I need.

I. [Pause.] ...I really wasn't expecting crane games.

[Inexperienced as she is, she's only really thinking of her own movements here, only thinking about the immediate next possible moves and not the long game.]

But your dedication to those lucky items is pretty impressive. Admirable, almost. Doesn't it get expensive?

He's also getting really annoyed when he realizes she's just making moves with no plan. But he said he wouldn't say anything until they get through the first one to see how she does. It's important to see the full game. ]
