[ Midorima, on the other hand, is not the type of person you want to speak to in text. Even if he likes you. He's possibly the rudest texter on the planet.
Especially when it's comments about sun and heat and he's having Sosyne alignment issues. ]
[ He has no idea why Minato decided they were friends. He's not really sure what to do with it. At least when Takao was being a pain, he has a reason (basketball) to stick around and insist on it. Minato is strange. ]
I can't remove something that feels like it's trying to burn a hole in my chest. How do you think?
[ Scared, though, and that's leading to him being even more frustrated than normal and it's showing. Telepathy is touchy in that even with text, somehow a tone can be clear when it comes to emotions.
Midorima is used to a world where pain is from sports injuries- ones that he takes tons of precautions not to get. He takes care of himself, he does everything he can to keep in good health. This feels like being punished for something he has no control over and can do nothing about. ]
[ Honestly, he's glad that Midorima isn't putting up a brave act. Maybe Minato is indeed strange as he doesn't even mind how snappy his friend-but-not-friend is. Even if normally he shouldn't be able to tell the tone of the text that easily, it's much simpler here. ]
I'll try to do something about it so hang in there.
[ Well, obviously other people will be there to fix the situation, too. ]
[ As intolerable as he likes to proclaim Minato is, he can actually genuinely appreciate what he's trying to do. Midorima hasn't really been kind to him, and he's still assuring him that he's trying to do something when Midorima doesn't feel like he can do anything. He isn't quite at the proper showing of gratitude stage with Minato yet, so instead he goes with a vague comment that would seem like nonsense to most people. ]
You should take a correction pen with you today in case you make mistakes.
[ It probably just sounds like odd advice, but it's actually Taurus's lucky item for the day. ]
[ Minato is trying to be the cryptic and cool guy here, but Midorima outmatches him with this inconspicuous piece of advice. It makes little sense, that's why he needs to ask again in the first place.
Then it finally dawns on Minato that this might be Midorima's way of encouraging him. Which makes him laugh for quite a while. ]
This might be a difficult test, you're right. Is there anything else I should take?
I'm not making a metaphor. Take a correction pen, you brat.
[ At least his irritation isn't hard to get back up, even after a brief dere moment. He's fine with being seen as a crabby jerk but minato should definitely go get one for his luck/protection. Midorima isn't quite at a stage of getting one for him himself, but he certainly doesn't wish actual ill on Minato. ]
Edited (Sorry my dog was attacking my hand for pets while I was phone tagging and I accidentally sent it the first time...) 2018-08-23 17:55 (UTC)
[ At which point Minato will get an image of an oversized plush toy. Midorima's feet can be seen on the couch behind it, though just barely. What Minato concludes about whether or not Midorima is miserably lying on the couch with a fat shiba inu toy on top of him is up to Minato.
He might not have shared, but he can only imagine what Minato would've assumed about live animals if he hadn't. ]
[ He refuses to dignify whether or not he does that for him with a response, but he does. Midorima is completely fine giving pats to stuffed animals, or playing with puppets, or playing silly songs on a tiny piano.. honestly, once he gets to know someone, he can open up a bit with his lucky items. But he hasn't quite opened up that much with Minato, so Minato doesn't get to know he actually patted the Shiba for him.
Instead, he decides to finally correct his initial statement when Minato texted him, if only because it's an actual apparent risk at this point and he needs an excuse to say goodbye on a note that doesn't involve furiously petting a stuffed animal because his chest is searing hot and so is the person's he's talking to.. ]
It'll be irritating if you die, so I'm forbidding it. Bye.
[ This is stupid, Weiss tells herself, but she decides to do it, anyway. It sucks when somebody important to you has disappeared, but she at least knows she'll see Ruby again. All she has to do is go home. Ruby disappearing won't be a permanent thing, but if the friends who aren't from Remnant that she's made here disappear, then that'll just be upsetting.
Like what she told Jaune earlier, she'll try to make the most out of her time here. That means doing stupid things like checking up on people for the sake of checking up on them. And, okay, maybe she could use somebody to talk to. ]
Your horoscope is telling you to go to this place in half an hour. Don't be late unless you want to be unlucky for the rest of the day.
[ ?!?!?!?!?! A+ conversation starter. You're good at this, Weiss. She doesn't even accept any responses to her transmission. It's up to Midorima if he goes or not, but Weiss thinks she's done her part by reaching out.
(She does at least send the address and directions to a small and quaint cafe in the business district.) ]
[ Sometimes people call Midorima weird. It's moments like this, in which a girl he knows doesn't know his horoscope (his is actually pretty decent today, thank you very much) decides to tell him to go some place in a half hour while pretending it's his horoscope talking??
He doesn't think she really understands what a horoscope is. It's really because he has to correct this ludicrous idea she has about what a horoscope is that he decides to come at all.
(It's not, but that's what his excuse to himself is. In reality, he thinks it's weird enough that he's a little worried she actually needs something from him.)
When he arrives at the cafe, he scans it from behind his glasses for the culprit behind the... odd message he received. ]
[ There are some things Weiss wants to discuss first, which she tells herself is the more acceptable excuse for bringing him out here in the first place. Once she sees him (he's hard to miss, after all), she merely makes eye contact before looking back at the menu before her. He can take a seat now or continue to stand there. She's not going to verbally ask him to sit down. She already invited him to come here.
Once he's seated, or at the very least, close enough that he'll be able to hear her, she gets straight to the point (one of the points, anyway): ]
[ Oh, so that's what this is about. He sits down, pushing his glasses up behind his nose and looking to the side, as if he's disinterested. ]
There was no need.
[ There was- he definitely needs money, but it feels inappropriate to demand money of someone he considers friend enough to give a secret milkshake on milkshake day. ]
You're already here, but that's good information for next time.
[ Next time!!!!!
A waiter just happens to pass by though, and asks for their orders. Seeing as Weiss goes to this place often, she's already prepared with hers - a butter and sugar crepe and a cup of coffee. ]
[ He hasn't exactly had a chance to look at the menu, so he just asks if they have anything with red beans. They aren't exactly common in restaurants around here, so he gets told no, so he just asks for what Weiss is having but with tea instead of coffee. Normally he would just look himself but since he hadn't seen the menu, it was best to just ask and move on. ]
